At the annual Texas Truck Rodeo, which is hosted by the Texas Automotive Writers Association, many different awards are given out. This is the third year in a row that the Ram 1500 has driven home with this award. However, that isn't the only award it won at the Texas Truck Rodeo. It also received Off-road Pickup Truck, Luxury Pickup Truck of Texas, and Full-size Pickup Truck. One of the major reasons why these awards have come in so easily in 2021 has been the addition of the TRX trim level. This kind of power, up to 702 horsepower, is something that absolutely took this truck rodeo by storm. The writers couldn't help but be in awe of the performance that is available, along with the off-roading capabilities.
Can you tell me about the TRX addition?
Since the Texas writers singled out the TRX trim, we want to make sure you're aware of what this trim has to offer. The first thing we want to talk about is the engine, which is a supercharged 6.2-liter V8. This engine can produce 650 pound-feet of torque and around 702 horsepower. However, beyond the engine, this is also a pickup truck that has a lot of unique features that will impress you, too. You'll find five underbody skid plates, Launch Control, upgraded brakes, a 2-inch suspension lift, a Dana 60 solid rear axle, an electronic locking differential, Bilstein adaptive dampers, 35-inch all-terrain tires, and a 12-inch screen.
What else does the Ram 1500 have to offer?
Not only will you get the option to drive around in the Ram 1500 TRX, but there is also an entire lineup of engines and trims that are available to you. The base trim, Tradesman, even comes with air conditioning, a six-speaker stereo system, 18-inch steel wheels, trailer sway damping, and a tilt-telescoping steering wheel. This is alongside a standard 3.6-liter V6 engine, where you can get up to 269 pound-feet of torque and 305 horsepower. Remember, this is just scratching the surface of all of the configurations you can get with this truck.
