The Gladiator wouldn't be a Jeep without legendary off-road capabilities thanks to Jeep's advanced 4x4 systems. All three Gladiator models receive a Trail Rated badge thanks to these systems.
The Sport and Overland trim models come equipped with the Command-Trac 4x4 system. A two-speed transfer case with a 2.72:1 low-range gear ratio, and heavy-duty third-generation Dana 44 front and rear axles with a 3.73 rear axle ratio all come with the Command-Trac 4x4 system. Available for the Sport and Overland models is a Trak-Lok limited-slip rear differential that provides extra torque and grip during low-traction situations. The Trak-Lok system especially comes in handy when driving over snow, sand, and gravel.

The Gladiator Rubicon model uses a Rock-Trac 4x4 system featuring a heavy-duty third-generation Dana 44 front and rear axles with a "4LO" ratio of 4:1. Tru-Lok locking differentials and a 4.10 front and rear axle ratio come standard. Rubicon models equipped with the standard six-speed manual transmission receive an impressive crawl ratio of 84.2:1 while models equipped with the eight-speed automatic transmission receive a crawl ratio of 77.2:1. Segment-exclusive electronic sway-bar disconnect offers improved articulation and total suspension travel. The Rubicon model also receives off-road ready 33-inch tires, rear steel heavy-duty off-road bumper, and an available front steel winch-ready bumper with removable end caps.
Both 4x4 systems offer full-time torque management enabling optimal grip in low-traction conditions. All three models come equipped with skid plates and tow hooks. The Gladiator can go anywhere with an approach angle of 43.6 degrees, breakover angle of 20.3 degrees, departure angle of 26 degrees, ground clearance of 11.1 inches, and up to 30 inches of water fording.
The 2020 Jeep Gladiator's rugged body-on-frame design is the base for the pickup trucks durability. The Gladiator uses an all-new lightweight high-strength steel frame engineered to still be stiff and durable. Four skid plates and bars are used to keep the fuel tank, transfer case, and automatic transmission oil pan protected while off-roading. Rubicon models come equipped with heavy gauge tubular steel rock rails to curtail potential body damage. The Gladiator Rubicon also has segment-exclusive rock rails for the bed corners to keep your truck from receiving any unwanted dents.
