Whether you're on the job around San Antonio, Pleasanton, Atascosa, Von Ormy, or just traveling around the great state of Texas, no one wants to be broken down on the side of the road. The best way to achieve this is to stay on top of your truck's routine maintenance visits. To help our Texas drivers like you know when they're due for service, the team at Lone Star CDJR put together this Ram 1500 maintenance schedule. Look it over, and if you have any questions, please feel free to call and speak with a service advisor at (210) 775-1726.

When should I change the oil in my Ram 1500?

If your Ram 1500 is most likely equipped with an oil change indicator system that will remind you that it is time to take your vehicle in for an oil change. The message "Oil Change Required" will be displayed in the DID, and a single chime will sound, indicating that an oil change is necessary. However, please keep in mind that you could require an oil change sooner, depending on your driving style. Operating conditions such as frequent short trips, trailer tow, extremely hot or cold ambient temperatures, and E85 fuel usage will influence when the "Change Oil" or "Oil Change Required" message is displayed. Severe Operating Conditions can cause the change oil message to illuminate as early as 3,500 miles.

20,000-Mile Service

Once your Ram 1500 hits 20,000 miles you will need a core service. This includes a Ram 1500 oil change, cabin air filter change, an inspection of tie rod ends and front suspension, and brake lining inspection, with replacement if necessary.

30,000-Mile Service

At the 30,000-mile marker, you should have your CV/universal joints checked, along with having your transfer case fluid and both your front and rear axle inspected. It would be best if you also considered replacing your engine air filter.

100,000-Mile Service

At this mileage interval, you should expect to replace several items. The engine air cleaner filter, spark plugs, and PCV valve are likely to need servicing.

120,000-Mile Service

When your Ram 1500 reaches 120,000 miles on the odometer, you'll want to lube the front drive shaft fitting, inspect the CV joints, inspect the exhaust system, inspect the front and rear axle fluid, and change the automatic transmission fluid and filters. Your engine coolant should be flushed and replaced as well.
