Spills happen, no matter how careful you promise to be. I've limited my kids to water only in the car, so guess who was the first to spill something that wasn't water? Me. And it was coffee. With cream.
Even if your car is food free, it's hard to keep an interior pristine, when there's so much opportunity to bring the outside in. Dirt, sand, salt, mud, even just water. If it's on your shoes, it doesn't take long to migrate other places like seats and carpets. But fortunately, it's not hard to clean on your own.
You Need:
- 1 cup vinegar
- 1 cup club soda
- ½ cup blue Dawn dish soap (there's something about the blue Dawn that makes it the most effective over other dish soaps)
- Spray bottleÂ
- Scrub brush
- OPTIONAL - wet/dry vac
How To:
- Vacuum the seats thoroughly and remove anything you can from the surface.
- Mix the Dawn, vinegar, and club soda in a spray bottle and shake lightly to mix.
- Spray liberally over any stained areas and let it sit for 5-10 minutes.
- Take a scrub brush and scrub in circles over the stains until the stains lift.
- Let dry (optional use of a wet dry vac to speed the process and remove more of the liquid).
- Once dry, vacuum again.
- Repeat if necessary.
If you are concerned, test a small area first. But I've yet to have this particular cleaner harm any fabrics.
Make sure the seats are completely dry before putting anything back in (car seats, bags, etc)!
