The 2023 Dodge Hornet is presenting drivers with a whole new take on the classic Dodge design! New for the 2023 model year, the Hornet is introducing tons of new features for drivers to enjoy, both inside and out. The Hornet is Dodge's first compact-utility vehicle, also known as a CUV. This means that it's a smaller and sportier version of the Durango SUV, while still being larger than a Dodge Charger sedan. Not only is it a new silhouette for the brand, but the Hornet is also Dodge's first available PHEV! There are three models within the lineup, which are the GT, GT Plus, and R/T. What are the Powertrain Options for the 2023 Dodge Hornet?
As we mentioned above, the Hornet is introducing Dodge's first-ever PHEV into the market. This is the R/T trim, which uses a gas-powered engine in tandem with its rechargeable battery. The R/T features a 1.3-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine, and an electric motor. The motor is mounted to the rear axle, and is powered by a 15.5-kWh rechargeable battery. This powertrain can provide up to 30 miles of all-electric range, as well as up to 288 horsepower. On the other hand, if you opt for the GT or GT Plus trims, you'll still get to enjoy a new powertrain. This time, it's a gas-powered 2.0-liter inline-4 engine known as the Hurricane 4. This engine pairs with a 9-speed automatic transmission, and creates up to 265 horsepower, and 295 lb-ft of torque. It also offers an available Sport Mode setting, and has the ability to accelerate from 0-60 miles per hour in 6.5 seconds.
